It is the day their new life is supposed to begin. Nick and Celia want to take off for the US. Their relationship is still young, but both of them are hauling personal baggage that they want to leave behind.
The morning they are due to leave, the screws are put on Nick. His former business associates don’t plan to let him fly away just like that. They are of the opinion that Nick owes them. And when, as a consequence, they threaten Celia, Nick snaps and robs a convenience store, turning their trip turns into a getaway.
With all their strength, he and Celia want to hold fast to their dream of a new beginning. They take refuge in a nearby house and declare a man they have found inside, Victor (Billy Zane) to be a hostage.
It quickly turns out that Victor is not alone in the house. On the upper floor, they find a young girl who tells them that he is a serial killer who has just killed her family. With the killer on the inside, and the police ready to arrest them on the outside, this soon becomes a game of cat and mouse... Can Celia and Nick escape and still follow their dream to make it to the US?
